Hyperburn

Hyperburn is a new science fiction short from DUST that's a post-apocalyptic battle scene and somewhat of a comedy, too. Our protagonist appears to be from a ragtag rebel group fighting against an oppressive regime with spaceships. He becomes stranded in the desert alone when his transportation equipment is damaged. That kind of scene is always a problem for filmmakers because of the lack of dialogue. But this guy has had an artificial intelligence agent implanted in his brain, so that's someone to talk to. She knows more about what's going on in his body than he really wants to hear, up to a point. Is she smarter than he is, or is she just a nag? 

Travis DuBridge made Hyperburn, a two-year project which he wrote, storyboarded, rehearsed, and made all the props and costumes. Yes, he had a small cast and crew when it came time to film. DuBridge laid out all the concepts and behind-the-scenes explainers at his channel. (via Geeks Are Sexy)
