Screen Junkies say they are doing an Honest Trailer for Casino Royale in honor of its 20th anniversary. That can't be right, Casino Royale was in theaters in 1967! But that wasn't even a real James Bond film, despite having the same title as Ian Fleming's first Bond novel in 1953. That film began as a real Bond movie, since the producer had the rights, but couldn't get cooperation from Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, they went with making it a parody. Besides, there had already been a TV version in 1954 that Americanized James Bond.
But then EON Productions decided to make a "real" version of Casino Royale, casting Daniel Craig as a rebooted, less experienced Bond as if it were actually the first movie in the long-running series, although set in a modern day. How does it hold up 20 years later? Screen Junkies shows how Casino Royale fits well in with all the other Bond movies by giving the audience everything they expect, taken up a few notches.
