Shakespeare



You can try, but you're never going to make that prose sound as good as a couple of Italian teenagers. People in the comments point out -again- that "wherefore" means "why" and we all misinterpret Juliet's speech. Of course we do, because that's when he showed up, right there. But how do we know "wherefore" wasn't "for shizzle" to teens of that era? Is there some reason scholars understood teens any better in Shakespeare's time than any other era?
