Being a Hero Can Really Suck
Joe Lozito tells the story of how he was got into a fight with Maksim Gelman, who went on a stabbing spree in New York in 2011. Gelman killed four people and injured five more. Lozito had no choice but to fight for his life when Gelman stabbed him. Lozito managed to disarm Gelman, but at great cost. The upshot is that Lozito nearly died, when the police were right there watching.

So Mr. Lozito got nothing for his heroics? No even compensation for his injuries? That is horrible. NYC should show their gratitude in some way
