Problem is, he's right. Like it or not, in evolutionary terms, homosexuality is a genetic dead end. Since progress in evolution is based on random mutations providing a survival advantage for producing offspring that continue the beneficial mutation, homosexuality cannot be considered a 'beneficial' mutation in that it inhibits the production of offspring.
There's no evidence that homosexuality involves any kind of genes, much less a genetic mutation. Plenty of people who are attracted to their same sex end up procreating with the opposite sex and pass on their genes, but those offspring are no more liable to be homosexual than the general population.

The best we can do is tolerate the poor dears.

I suppose I am also a genetic dead end, since I've never given birth. The best I can hope for is that my seven kids and two grandkids "tolerate" me.
