One-Man Halloween Medley
If you want to dance the Monster Mash or the Time Warp, here's the music for it! All these movie monsters are played by Peter Hollens, who also did the singing. The medley shifts into high gear toward the end, when the songs all blend together.
Cats vs. Invisible Wall
The humans erected an invisible wall, and the cats are completely bumfuzzled. If anyone tells you that cats don't have expressive faces, you just show them this video.
Halloween Ghouls
Fictional incarnations have their drawbacks, but a skeleton, being quite real, can either terrify us or entertain us. I suppose that comes from its real-world availability to comedians like first-year medical students. While zombies and ghosts come and go, or at least change over time, skeletons have always been with us and are infinitely posable. This comic is from Alex Culang and Raynato Castro at Buttersafe.

The Final Trailer
The last trailer for the last movie in the three-trilogy Skywalker saga is out. Is that a milestone? It may be the end of this story, but it's certainly not the last of Star Wars. Disney paid George Lucas too much money for that to ever be true. Tickets for The Rise of Skywalker went on sale last night, too, even though the movie is still two months away. It's a bit jarring to see Kylo and Rey trying to kill each other, then talking, then killing a common enemy, then trying to kill each other again. C3PO might make you verklempt, and seeing General Leia might make you tear up.

My Weekend Off
First, I couldn't work. But I also couldn't watch TV (I am streaming-only), play video games (I discovered there aren't any on my computers), read the news, or most of the other things I do. Gothgrrl went back to campus Saturday afternoon because even her homework is done by internet. Gardening was out because it was raining. I caught up on housework. I decided to go crack walnuts in the basement, but then my bench vise gave out. Thinking I'd fix it, I decided to look up the structure and function of a bench vise ...but I couldn't look anything up. I had set plants out to get watered in the rain. Should I bring them in for the night? Who knows, I couldn't look up the forecast like I normally do.
I visited family, went to church, and slept longer than I have in years. Then a nice young technician found I had both a weak cable signal and a fried modem (probably from overuse). The modem was less than a year old, and I had already replaced the router of the same age that failed a couple of weeks before. He installed new cable and provided a new modem, and I feel a profound sense of gratitude for both the lesson in patience and the restored connectedness.
Of course, you didn't even miss me, since most all of the posts here at my site are pre-loaded. It would take about a week before anyone noticed a difference.
Explaining Blue and Green Eyes
Melanin is the natural brown pigment that determines the color of our skin, hair, and eyes. Lipochrome is another natural pigment that confers a yellow color. However, there are no natural blue or green pigments in the human body. So why are some eyes blue and some green? Simon Whistler explains what's happening in those eyes. And I found out why my green eyes are sometimes gray. The eye color discussion is only five minutes long. An ad appears at five minutes, then there are bonus eye facts at about six minutes. In checking out this post, I was led down a path that explained how I ended up with a green-eyed deaf cat. When I talk about Marshmallow, people tell me she can't be deaf; only blue-eyed white cats are deaf. But according to Wikipedia, "17 to 22 percent of white cats with nonblue eyes are deaf".
