Supercell Over Wyoming
The group Basehunters recorded the formation of a supercell over the area between Wright and Newcastle, Wyoming, yesterday. In this time-lapse video, the documentation of the cloud movements is interspersed with episodes of “Drive away! Drive away! As fast as you can!” I can’t say I blame them; this looks like familiar illustrations of the apocalypse, even without the ominous music. (via Digg)

Michael Jackson Performs at 2014 Billboard Music Awards
Despite having died in 2009, Michael Jackson performed at the Billboard Music Awards last night on TV. It was a hologram, performing his song “Slave to the Rhythm,” from the posthumous album Xscape. The stunt was six months in the making.
BBMA producers Dick Clark Productions built a special stage at the rear of the MGM Grand Arena that was used only for the Jackson performance. Dancers moved through aisles as Jackson was seen rising from a throne, walking down steps before going into several trademark routines, a moonwalk being one of the them. Lasers, streams of flames and dancers in ancient costumes were part of the film.
Jackson was the hit of the show. In fact, if it weren’t for the holographic performance, you might not even know that Billboard gave out awards last night. (via Daily Picks and Flicks)

Warren Buffet plays the ukulele? I’d like to see a video of that. Okay, now I have. He’s just one of 48 people you may know of who have unusual or even altogether everyday hobbies (we wouldn’t call golf unique, especially among the rich and famous), detailed by John Green in this week’s mental_floss video.
John Green’s hobby is writing books, something he does in his spare time, yet it’s made him a rockstar in the eyes of my teenage daughters. They like to think that he’s my best friend, instead of someone who just happens to work for one of the same websites their mother works for.
Domestic Cats and Wild Cats
Chris Poole (not moot) from Cole & Marmalade teamed up with Big Cat Rescue http://bigcatrescue.org to show us the differences and the similarities between house cats and big cats. Before They Were on Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones has a huge ensemble cast that changes as the core characters die off. The producers wanted to avoid casting any big name stars in order to keep the characters believable (Sean Bean was pretty well-known, but he was already famous for dying in his roles). But the cast is made up of experienced actors who you’ve seen before -you just don’t recognize them. This video will remind you of where you’ve seen them. No, they don’t look the same. (via Uproxx)

A street performer in Ann Arbor, Michigan, entertains some children with his Transformer routine. This cool costume folds into a little car that drives around! The movements and transformations are enhanced by the proper sound effects. Surgical anesthesia does funny things to people. Once the operation is over and you know everything went okay for your loved one, you need a laugh. This girl in post-op trying to have a drink provides it. You know she’s thirsty, but her hand-eye coordination has not yet returned. How long will the videographer wait before helping her? You might have forgotten that Mars actually has two moons: Phobos & Deimos. You’d be forgiven for forgetting, because they are so small that their own gravity won’t even make them spherical.
