Yesterday

The 2019 film Yesterday is a fantasy and a musical, but is a romantic comedy at its heart. Struggling musician Jack Malik finds himself in an alternate universe in which The Beatles never existed, and only he remembers them. He plays Beatles songs and becomes world famous. But easy fame and fortune come between Jack and the love of his life, and that's what it's really about. Yesterday was made on a budget of $26 million, ten of which was used to license all those Beatles songs, and made back several times that. Yet the studio insists they lost money on the movie.
