Ha !

Here in New Zealand, where the majority of electricity is made by letting stored rainwater rush through a turbine, most power retailers have just increased their night rate .... the one people mainly use to charge their battery powered cars .... by 60%

It took them just over a month of increased gasolene and Diesel prices for them to realise they were missing out on bigger profits and could get away with raising prices as they could blame the oil costs increases .... as if oil prices affect how much rain falls down.

60%, if you're not much chop at maths, means if it cost you $22 to charge your battery car overnight before, it now costs you $35.

My grocery bill is normally about $250, that's for me and the 5 cats, 60% more would make it now be $400 ... for the same stuff.

Damn.

$NZ250 =$US150 ish
$NZ22 = $US13
