I always had the conundrum of deciding which way to lay the boards. So as to give grip to shoes on wet decking coming from the sliding door out, or coming from the step onto the deck. But then I realised that coming towards the step you would already have wet shoes, so would be being careful, where as coming from inside you may not be prepared for the slipperiness.
I also, when building or renovating, sank the slider into the floor some, to remove any trip factor and enhance the overall look.
