It was only a matter of time before the currently re-empowered and emboldened KKK sought revenge of the Southern Poverty Law Centre. May the SPLC prevail once more!
RE: pancreas cancer vaccine research link- - my father was diagnosed with pancreas cancer in late 2001. he had the whipple surgery that removes part of pancreas & the tumor at his pancreas duct into intestine. After that, we learned about a vaccine research trial at sloan kettering & flew on the corning glass jet (via corporate angels) to get to Manhattan for appt with their researchers around march 2002. my dad took his med reports & tumor samples to the visit. While he did not qualify for the trial they were running at that time, his samples were donated for their future research. I find this article to be very gratifying. science making strides against one of the most deadly cancers. glad we were able to maybe help the process in some way with his tumor records & tissue donation for the steps that got knowledge to this point. march 2002, WTC disaster cleanup underway in a very shaken financial district. my cousin & husband had an apartment (unoccupied after the attack) in battery park city. we used that as a resting place between arrival and his afternoon appointment. That Corporate Angels charity flight coordination for patients in serious medical need ran very smoothly and was a truly memorable experience.
That's a legacy you can be proud of- contributing to the betterment of future generations.
The couch is my emotional support furniture. I'm in a deep-seated relationship with it and it gets me.
Happy Friday Miss C!
Happy Friday, my fellow doomscrollers!
Happy Friday, gwdMaine!
Do people still watch The Simpsons ?
How about Family Guy ?
I recently did a painting of Lois Griffin on my fence, 1.9 metres tall (maybe around 6 feets, maybe a leg ?) and in full colour ... but I have had a lot of passersby ask who it is supposed to be.
Now, your first thought may be the painting is not very good, but excuse my lack of humility but yeah, nah, it is quite good.
Not perfect, but quite good, and if you had seen Family Guy you would recognise Lois straight away.
Calls into question my viewing habits, as I assumed everybody would have seen Peter Griffin doing what Donald Duck and so many other drawn characters have done before him ... and I guess many human actors' characters too.
Maybe I'll have to do Marge instead ... I'll need a taller fence.
Oh, and it's Saturday here, because we are on the other side of the International Dateline.
