Miniature Food Critic
Everyone's a critic, and every parent has had to deal with children who have a problem with what you serve them to eat. Imagine how harsh they would be with a adult's vocabulary combined with their immature social filter! Well, you don't have to imagine, because that's exactly what this video is. Or else this little girl has been watching too much Gordon Ramsay.
YouTuber Woodsie employs the Face Swap Live iPhone app to make videos of his daughters. That way, he gets to play all the parts. Even so, the finished product is indicative of how they feel about Dad's cooking. See more of Woodsie's videos that use this same technique. (via Tastefully Offensive)
Buried in Bunnies
Bunny Island in Japan is where you can cavort with as many free-roaming rabbits as you want to. This guy made the mistake of getting down on their level.

Munchkin Kitten Grows Up
Time for a cuteness break! Spend a few minutes watching Milo the munchkin cat go from a fluffy kitten to a fluffy adult cat. This video was compiled from five months of recording. Yeah, he's a young adult now, but he still looks like a kitten. You can see more of Milo at his Instagram page. (via Tastefully Offensive)
Face Transplant Recipient Meets Donor's Widow
Imagine the emotions you'd experience if you had a chance to see your deceased spouse's face on someone else. That's what happened to Lillian Ross. Her husband, Calen "Rudy" Ross, died last year, and was a designated organ donor. The staff at the Mayo Clinic approached Lillian about using Rudy's face for a patient who was awaiting a face transplant. The clinic team had been practicing for their first face transplant for more than three years. Andrew Sandness received a new face, including facial bones and teeth from Rudy, after ten years of living with profound disfigurement. The surgery required nine surgeons, a crew of 40 medical professionals, and 56 hours. After months of recovery and therapy, Sandness was able to greet Lillian Ross and express his appreciation.
The not-so-warm-and-fuzzy side of the story is that both men were victims of suicide. Ross left Lillian a pregnant, 19-year-old widow. Sandness, on the other hand, got a second chance at life twice. Five other people also received various organs from Ross. (via Laughing Squid)
Improvising in the Style of Different Classical Composers
Nahre Sol shows us how the styles of classical composers vary from each other. The contrast is made clearer as she uses the same song for each: "Mary Had a Little Lamb." Some are so stylized that it's hard to hear the original melody, but you get the idea. Those who are intimately familiar with these composers will laugh in places. The rest of us will instantly recognize our favorite composer, whoever it is. The annotations help a lot. (via Metafilter)
The Red Spectre
A 1907 film from the groundbreaking French director George Méliès. Here's a review found at IMDb.
The first decade of the twentieth century saw the production of dozens of brief "trick films" which pushed the boundaries of the new medium, and France seemed to be the capital of this activity. Georges Méliès is the best known creator of these films, but THE RED SPECTRE, which was produced at the Pathé Studio by Méliès' fellow pioneer Ferdinand Zecca, is perhaps the most bizarre and fascinating of them all-- or at least, allowing for the fact that many of these films are lost, it is certainly among the very best of the survivors. It is better seen than described, genuinely dreamlike in its images and transitions, and deeply strange, but deeply satisfying as well. The movie lasts only about 8 or 9 minutes, but when it's over you feel as if you've been permitted to visit another world. When THE RED SPECTRE was first shown the original black & white footage was hand-colored to produce a dazzling effect, and happily, colored prints survive today, and have been preserved(via Everlasting Blort)

Paddington & The Christmas Visitor
Paddington Bear saves Christmas without even realizing it. His clueless Christmas caper makes him a hero, but he still has marmalade on his mind. While the John Lewis Christmas ad is designed to touch your heart, the Marks & Spencer Christmas ad is designed to make you laugh -and send you to the theater to watch the new Paddington bear movie. Oh yeah, they want you to shop at Marks & Spencer, too. Somehow, I just can't imagine people in the UK watching Christmas ads from the US as entertainment. (via Metafilter)
John Lewis Christmas Ad 2017
Let the Christmas advertising season begin! The John Lewis Christmas ad campaign has started. This year's theme is the monster under the bed. Moz the Monster is not only scary, but annoying, too, because he snores, farts, and disrupts a little boy's sleep. But this is a John Lewis ad, so it can't be scary. The kid finds that when you look for the good in others, even a monster can be a friend. Knowing that will not spoil the twist at the end. The ad was directed by Michel Gondry. (via Metafilter)
