SubWars

The animated short SubWars warns us to respect our elders, because that old man on the subway just might be a Jedi master. Directed by Sean Soong. Contains plenty of cartoon gore.  (via The Daily What Geek)

Joe McCarthy’s Joke. Some people take him seriously, even today.

You may have read that in the Chinese 3D release of the movie Titanic, the nude scene was cut because of fears that Chinese men would reach out and try to grab Kate Winslet's, um, assets. But there was one part of the story that was missing -it wasn't true. (via Metafilter)

This supercut of movie scenes in which the actor looks directly at the camera has very little dialogue dialogue. It starts off just unsettling, then gets hypnotically creepier as it goes along.

The Fox network is celebrating 25 years of innovative TV programming that paid off. What seems standard today was risky and experimental in its time.

Cat Hacks Feeder

A cat figures out how to hack an automatic feeder. A good whack in the right spot will make it dispense food any time the cat wants! These video clips were taken over two days. (via I Am Bored)

The Usher

An elderly woman walked into the local country church. The friendly usher greeted her at the door and helped her up the flight of steps,  "Where would you like to sit?" he asked politely.

"The front row please," she answered.

"You really don't want to do that," the usher said "The pastor is really boring."

"Do you happen to know who I am?" the woman inquired.

"No." he said..

"I'm the pastor's mother," she replied indignantly.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked.

"No." she said.

"Good," he answered.

Ducklings in a Pool

The heated pool seemed like such a nice place to take a family swim, but when mama got out, the ducklings found they were too short to make the leap! Then modern technology, er, furniture saved the day. (via The Daily What)

The military pilot called for a priority landing because his single-engine jet fighter was running "a bit peaked."

Air Traffic Control told the fighter jock that he was number two, behind a B-52 that had one engine shut down.

"Ah," the fighter pilot remarked, "The dreaded seven-engine approach."

How to Properly Hold a Cat

That's what the post at reddit was titled, but we all know it was just an excuse to get hot guys to post their pictures holding cats.

The Persistent Penguin

A Cape penguin at the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo has a hard time walking up a slippery slope. At first you feel sorry for him, then you start to get the idea that he's enjoying this. My Japanese is a little rusty, but I think the uploader said the little guy gave it up after about ten minutes and went to sleep. (via Arbroath)

Princess Turns 15

It's already started. She wants me to teach her how to drive. Her learner's permit is a year away, but I'm going to hear nothing but car, car, car for the next 12 months. Sigh. But Princess is getting great grades in her first year in high school -the cumulative GPA that determines whether and where she goes to college is a great incentive. Her aspiration now is to become a National Geographic photographer when she finishes school. In honor of her birthday, I'm rerunning a portion of the photo spread I posted of her a couple of years ago (since I'm moving all the old posts over here anyway) with a couple of newer pictures at the bottom. Oh yeah, some snarky commenter at that time predicted I'd be a grandmother in two years because my daughter dresses so trashy. Well, I was already a grandmother then, and have another grandchild now, but those kids are from my older, married stepdaughter. Princess has still never even gone on a real date, but that doesn't bother her. She has plenty of time.

The New Job

A regular walked into a bar and said, “Bartender, one round for everyone, on me!”

The bartender replied, “Wow! You’re in a really good mood tonight!”

”Indeed!” the man said. “I just got hired by the city to go around and remove all the money from the parking meters. I start tomorrow!”   The bartender congratulated the man and proceeded to pour a round for everyone.

The next night, the same man walked back in. “Bartender, another round for everyone, on me!” he said.

As the bartender was pouring the drinks, he said, “If you’re this happy about your new job, I can just imagine how happy you’ll be when you get your first paycheck!”

The man went wide-eyed, grinned from ear to ear, pulled out a handful of quarters from his pocket and said, “You mean they pay me too?”
