40 Years Without A New Antibiotic. Why?



Science hasn't given us a new antibiotic since the 1970s. It wasn't for lack of trying, but researchers have found all the antibiotics that can be discovered the easy way. It's a matter of thinking outside the box, er, Petri dish. But once that was accomplished, new technologies had to be invented to enable new research methods. Let's hope they pay off.

With the anti-science crowd in control of the budget any new advances will probably have to come from overseas ... and we will have to pay dearly for it.
