The End of an Era

Princess Elizabeth of York was not born to be queen. When she was ten years old, her uncle King Edward VIII abdicated the throne, making her father king, and Elizabeth the crown princess. In 1947, on Elizabeth's 21st birthday, she gave this speech on film from South Africa, pledging her whole life to her country. Elizabeth was crowned Queen in 1952, and died today at age 96, as the longest serving monarch in British history,

This hits hard because the Queen looked very much like my mother who died a couple years ago at 95. They always wore the same hair styles and similar attitudes, except my mother didn't like dogs.
It's funny how we relate to public figures, I guess to make people we don't really know except through the media seem more human.

I've never been a fan of people born into extreme wealth and power, so it's only now that I wonder if Wallace Simpson and Edward had children and if so, how pissed off they must have been not to have become king or Queen.

Well. Mr Rocket leaves a lot to unpack. Great story for someone to research and perhaps post about 🤔

TL;DR

Wallace was perfectly happy to remain in the background as a mistress. Not like that's ever been done before.

And my condolences to the people of Great Britain. What a reign by your Queen. She gave you her all.

Wallis Simpson, although married three times, never had any children.
