In Japan, TV producers can get away with stunts that would bankrupt an American TV network through lawsuits, and possibly end in convictions. The television special Dokkiri Award (Surprise Award) managed to get comedian Toshiaki Kasuga to sleep in a cabin at the base of Mt. Fuji. Then they strapped him in and woke him up by launching him 150 feet into the air! That may sound quite implausible, but there was alcohol involved. It was the only way. Strategically-placed cameras show Kasuga’s reaction over and over and over. (via Uproxx)
