I'm willing to allow for children making mistakes because they just didn't think. For a lesser example, have you ever been to a show, where they mug for tension by saying "please be perfectly silent"? And don't you hear people who clap or shout at random - never too many, but there's always 1-2? No one wants to see the diver lose a v in a dive and just die, but, I bet everyone, just once or twice in their life, throws the occasional clap at that moment.
And most stop, and think, and realize that was a nasty thing to do. Then there's those folks who just want to sound an air horn, just before the death defying stunt. Those are the people who'd shoot at a cat, and not feel shamed and horrified, but instead, think of doing it again.
