Those that make our species look bad are usually the loudest. Followed by the people who sensationalize the bad people because they're rather loud, too.
Humans are the apex predators on this planet; what we do best is kill each other and anything else we feel like. History revolves around war and killing. Every habitable inch of this planet is filled with blood and suffering. The fact that, at this time, many people can live in health and with wealth, is an accident of history.
