The photo is credited to Alfred Eisenstaedt, a world-renown photographer for LIFE magazine. He is perhaps most famous for his Times Square picture on V-J Day of the couple kissing.
I wonder where he took it?
I couldn't find out where but I did find out why. Those signs marked the location of fatal accidents on the road.
