There are trees in Iceland though they tend to be smaller. There is an ongoing effort to replant forests there using tree stock from Canada and Alaska that is habituated to to the latitude. The legend of the Yule Cat(who eats people that don't have new clothes for Christmas) and the 13 lads (who get up to much mischief, licking spoon, slamming doors, eating skyr, etc.) is such fun.
