Taxes

They're just saying what we all think at one time or another. The IRS basically asks us to guess a number they are thinking of, and we hope our guess is right. I know it's way more complicated than that, but for most people who get their income from an employer and aren't rich, it should be easier. This comic is from Toon Hole.  (via reddit)

  1. In a perfect world, this is what works for me:

    1. How much did you make?
    2. Multiply it by "0.XXX"
    3. Send it in.

  2. Just pay a private company $150 to do the work and submit it to the IRS.
Of course at that point the courts have ruled the private company legally owns your return with all your information on it. But of course you can trust them not to tell anybody your personal information.

Nope, they wouldn't do that, not even for money... well maybe a quick peak to a company who pinky-swears not to misuse that information.

Oh well, it's not like they'll rob you... no, just inundate you with spam and phone calls and junk mail, but you already get that anyway so no harm no foul... except they betrayed your trust, made a profit off you, and treated you as a disposable.

  3. The IRS could send you forms with almost all needed information already filled in, so you would only need to double-check them and add anything missing. And they could make the forms simpler. But the large tax preparation concerns (most egregiously Intuit a.k.a TurboTax), spend millions of dollars each year lobbying to prevent that.
