  2. You SNOWFLAKES ... its supposed to say care

I drove 45 minutes on Christmas Day to have lunch with 30 year old friends who are in their 70s.
Holiday traffic and a hot hot day and the Alfa Romeo decides to not want to give me cold cold aircon .... and I had a whipped cream filled, double layer chocolate cake, iced (UK, Australia, New Zealand) frosted (USA, probably Canada) with a slightly cherry flavour imbued ganache on which I sprinkled, in a facsimile of the spiral arm of our part of the Milky Way, North Macedonian cherries from a jar, and very nearly crushed walnuts from the United States of America ... (what care I of transportation pollution ? it is the sun that gave us ice ages, and the sun that takes ice ages away, don't be fooled by propaganda) ... which needed to be kept cool to stop the shiny chocolate covering from melting.

All was well, the work of baking and decorating was not ruined, and 'oohs and aahs' echoed across the room when I opened the cake carrier.

Terry, born in New York State and enjoying his 8th decade here in the Antipodes, had two quite large slices, but since I made it primarily for him that was more than ok.

Christmas Day was 28ºC ... which I think is about 120ºF, but you have internet access, so you check it.

I state that it was meant to be 'CARE' because even though my I.Q. is higher than most dogs I meet, I didn't click when I first saw the post , I thought it was just someone with their fingers on a keyboard having fun ... like writing 'Speed Thrills' rather than 'Speed Kills'.

There is probably a word for that sense of 'enlightenment' when you realise you didn't see the obvious first time around.

    1. Oh, in case you want to replicate the cake I made ... I also put a layer of sharp blackcurrant jam (jelly ?) on top of the cake but under the ganache ... that gives it a tongue contrast to the sweet chocolate and lovely fat filled cream.
