I will never understand how any person with a functioning brain could be anti-union. Long live the right to withhold one's labor for better terms and conditions.
Less than 10% of workers are in a union. In the private sector, that's down to 5.9%. The Biden administration bailed out union pension funds with tens of billions of taxpayer dollars. It mandated union labor for infrastructure projects and baked union-favorable provisions into the CHIPS Act. It backed the “buy American” rules, prevailing wage rules, and protectionism that unions love. Biden’s NLRB appointees backed unions at every opportunity. And Biden himself was the first president to walk a picket line, joining UAW workers in Michigan in 2023. All his efforts to boost unions failed. Studs Terkel, or should I write Pulitzer Prize awarded Studs Terkel, once said to me that he hated the Soviet Union and how it destroyed unions around the world by turning them into cheerleaders for Stalin. The fantasy the progs have, is a fantasy not reality. All the unions reforms were blocked and fought by socialists and anarchists. Why? Because reform was bourgeoise. Reform is impossible when you believe in class war. That is why anarchists threw a bomb at Haymarket Square- right between cops and protesters. To anarchists, there was no difference between the police and those who wanted an 8 hour work day. They were enemies of the workers revolution. Marx and Engels were clear. There would never be an 8 hour work day. No insurance. No workers owning their own property. This is why the German Communist Party urged people to vote for Hitler, the liberal reformers were seen as far more evil. From 1938 to 1941 the Communist Party USA supported Hitler and worked with the German American Bund causing strikes in the defense industry, calling FDR and Churchill "warmongers", "imperialists" but that has been carefully removed from history, replaced by false claims of reds being "premature anti-fascists". But there's hope. The stranglehold Democrats had on history is finally falling apart. Gen Z even questions the use of atomic bombs by Democrats! FINALLY. Forced sterilization, forced lobotomies, segregation, lynching, railroading blacks when cities needed road crews, an alliance with the KKK that lasted decades, a Democrat and klansman dropping atomic bombs on people trying to surrender for a year, lying to get us into Vietnam, lying to get us into Iraq- the list is endless. They will say none of those things were a threat to democracy. I say they all were. And after all the false charges against Trump, I would add they haven't changed one bit.
