The question that got me when I first applied for jobs was "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" I actually had no idea--and thought of all the many possibilities. Maybe I'll learn a language and explore the world! I was completely flummoxed. I later figured out that there are a million correct answers to that question and the way to answer is to know your audience and give them an answer that makes them happy: "Successfully designing products for this company!"
They really shouldn't ask this question to someone who just got out of college.
Ha! The last job I interviewed for was at a grocery store in 2018. When the HR woman asked me where I saw myself in five years, I said, "Retired." We both giggled.
When I was about 20, I interviewed for a job as a ward clerk, which is not exactly a C-level position. When he asked me why I wanted to work there, I said, I need the money. I got the job.
