  1. Here's the full story as reported in the Kansas City Post on June 17, 1920. (Text extracted from newspaper clipping.)

    ANGRY 'CORPSE' CALLS
    OFF HIS OWN FUNERAL
    CHICAGO-A local paper printed a
paid death notice announcing to the
world that Louis L, Sigel had died
and would be buried the next day.
    About 10 o'clock a young man strode
into the newspaper office. His face
conveyed the impression that he was
    -well, a wee bit annoyed.
"T'm Lewis I. Sigel," he announced.
    "Who?"
"Louis I Sigel, the dead guy.
Somebody's played a horrible trick on
me. I'm no corpse and I want the
world to know it. That notice will
hurt my business. I'm a jewelry
salesman and none of my customers
order through the ouija board. The
angels and I still have nix in common,
    --**
    and I want the world-
    All right, world. Consider yourself
Informed that the funeral of Louis L
    Sigel is indefinitely postponed. He's
    alive.
