One generation passing judgment on another but without understanding the context. Today's blameless generation vs. your guilty one. If you analyze any historical figure using the microscope of contemporary rules, standards and societal expectations - they will be found to be wanting. They will pretty much all be racist, sexist, war-mongering, misogynistic, insider-trading, thieves and colonialists.

ReplyDeleteThe whippersnappers who learned of the past through history lessons at school may have gotten a more balanced view. If it was handed down through family and friends families it could be slanted.
If they refuse to believe some of the things we've lived through because it sounds so crazy impossible, cut them some slack, because it was, Daddio, it was. ;o)
