ReplyDeleteWhen, and why, did Americans change the spelling of litre to liter, which for us 'normal' people, makes the new Corvette seem like it has a lighter engine ?
I suppose I should mention that it is a sign of advancement that Americans are using litres for engine size rather than cubic inches.
I was born not far from Cardiff, Wales, where the tidal range is around 10.5 metres, imagine living on a houseboat on the water there !

About half of Americans pronounce the "h" in both those words. Why have letters if you aren't going to use them? Where I come from, the aromatic plants are called yarbs.

I was the student manager of our HS Gymnastic team in ’60-’62. We won the state and went to West Point to play their freshman team. The gymnastics I witnessed win those competitions wouldn’t even qualify as a warm up routine for today’s athletes. Now they routinely do the impossible.

I can not see the justification of that $3.6 million 3 story houseboat. Keeping water out of your house from above is full time, now double it with below. Humid = mold and mildew. Dirty rotten Seagulls will ruin outdoor meals.

Go out for a sail? Sure if there’s absolutely no wind, and you make provisions for disconnecting the sewer, electric, water plus gas if you have that.

That ZR1 C8 Corvette is wild, 8000 rpm, 1064 hp and 828 ft lbs from 336 cu-in is nuts. I bought a new C3 with 350 hp from 350 cu in that was the bees knees at the time. LoL
