The earth does indeed orbit the moon (more specifically, the center of mass of the earth/moon system. The earth/moon system also orbits the the center of mass of the earth/sun system, although, because the sun's mass is not infinite, and because the non-linear equations of gravity are unstable for a three-body problem, they may not do so forever.
Except in Florida.
