Three Baby Elephants

Beekse Bergen Safari Park in Hilvarenbeek, Netherlands, has an abundance of new African elephants with three babies born in the last four months. All three are female. First, Pina-Nessi gave birth to Mosi in November. Then in December, Ajabu was a surprise birth because she came two months early to first-time mother Bongi. However, the baby is healthy and is thriving. And in February, the oldest elephant Punda gave birth to Tendai, as shown above.

Tendai was born into a family of two ready-made playmates, who are both her nieces and half sisters. Punda is the grandmother of the first two babies, as Pina-Nessi and Bongi are her daughters. The father of all three is an elephant named Yambo who was brought in for just this reason for a few months in 2021. Read more about the latest birth at Zooborns.
