A life truly dour
His powder was good but his baking was late
His flint made the spark
There was no mistake
Except for the floor dust, sparkling in the air
And coating Tom's being
His face and his hair
The following explosion laid everything flat
The only thing missed
was the escaping fast cat
When asked in later days 'How many loaves do you make ?'
For some reason Tom always said
'Loaves ? Just the eight'.
