(via Everlasting Blort)Dutch designer Maarten Baas has created a 10-foot high art clock in the newly renovated Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport that features a video of a man in a work uniform behind the translucent clock face painstakingly painting the time minute by minute. pic.twitter.com/UHmWcn8rzA

Since it takes about twenty seconds to erase the minute hand and replace it with the next one, this 'art installation' is useless as a clock – because for more than 30% of each minute it is NOT showing the correct time.

I wonder how many people will miss their boarding time just standing there mesmerised.
ReplyDeleteFrom the time he removes the last vestige of the old hand to starting(indicating position) of the new hand, is 7 seconds (15 to 22 on the video). Walking through a hall that size will take more than 7 seconds, probably way more for the people standing around looking at the clock. So you'll see one end or the other of the change. If you need the exact minute you have no business relying on public clocks.
