There is probably a competitive element which is normal, for any group of 7 friends. There's usually 3 or 4 that want to be viewed as best by the rest... Leader of the Laundromat.

If you're working with condensed soup – Campbells, or any of the other squintillion private label brands out there – the easiest way to improve it is to reconstitute it with ordinary dairy milk rather than that trial-and-error 'add a little bit of cream' process. It might also work with almond or soy milk or any of the other vegan alternatives, but I don't know. And since I think that these things are an abomination upon the good earth and choose not to use them, I probably never will.

My mother made it with milk, but I never liked that. I cut the soup with water, then put butter in it, or sometimes a dollop of sour cream.
