Screen Junkies Takes on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

The fifth Indiana Joes film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, seems to have come and gone at the theaters. The movies grossed $382.7 million, but was a box office bomb. That just goes to show how out-of-control movie budgets are these days, but a revered named like Indiana Jones can get funding anyway, even though the character is now elderly, and most of the jokes are about just that. According to this Honest Trailer, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is just like all the previous movies in the franchise, except all the amazing plot points, characters, and chase scenes have been done before. Boomers and Gen X went to see the movie on its first weekend; younger folks just aren't all that impressed by Indiana Jones. I guess you just had to be there when Raiders of the Lost Ark opened in 1981. Trying to recapture that magic by doing the same thing over and over again ain't working.
