He's very fortunate those steps have that shallow a pitch. Any steeper and I think he'd have dunked the forward luggage compartment (the engine was in the rear, like a VW or the old Chevy Corvairs) completely, flooding it and sinking the vehicle, before the front end floated free.
And of course, since the Amphicar was rear-wheel drive, he'd have to come into that flight of stairs like the proverbial bat outta hell to force the front wheels up the steps far enough to let the rear wheels finally get a grip on the ramp.
Thought #1: Aw man, he's probably messing up those steps with that car, what a jerk.
Thought #2: Wait, he's driving it into the water? He's ruining that shiny car along with probably busting a set of stone steps just for a video? Disgusting.
