Film Trends

  1. Why does Barbie trending get negative numbers?

I shouldn't have been surprised that New Mexico has the highest Oppenheimer trend. I wonder what's up with Mississippi.

  2. I am not surprised "Oppenheimer" is trending in Illinois--part of the Manhattan Project happened at and under the University of Chicago.

  3. Saw Barbie last night, great movie. I can see why FOX "News" fears and hates it. But why is The South big on the movie? Perhaps for the reasons similar to why Hogan's Heroes was the #1 TV show in Germany, and Cosby #1 in apartheid South Africa? Or maybe not?

  4. This map doesn't mean more people saw Barbie in the South than other places. It's just a comparison with Oppenheimer. My guess is that fewer people in some regions saw Oppenheimer because it's a three-hour commitment and would be easier to watch on streaming TV. Who knows? The white areas with a zero score could have the highest number of theater-goers, but these two films came out even in those states.

  5. Oppenheimer is in IMAX format, right? Could be fewer IMAX theaters in those Barbie places. (If you prefer to take a charitable view.)

  6. This ain’t in the movie; evil deeds heavier than ‘nucular’ : https://www.instagram.com/p/CvAX4jpOAwo/

  7. I don't think this chart represents viewers. It's a Google trends chart. It means the people in MS are searching for reasons to troll the movie without seeing it. They don't care about the science behind "nucular" research, so they have no interest in Oppenheimer, because it makes you think, and they HATE that!
