Rankine like Réaumur and Rømer scales are of no use to everyday people. In fact changing from Fahrenheit to Celsius or vice versa people will think in the scale the grew up with. They'll translate in their head but will always think in what they learned of temperatures in relation to how it felt. Painting stripes on a horse doesn't make it a zebra.
0 Kelvin = 0 heat, so it is the only logical scale to use.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it will be 294 today, so dress appropriately.
Celsius is based on the temperature of water (freezing and boiling). As the chart shows, Fahrenheit's scale fits well with the scale of human comfort.
ReplyDeleteI've been told that this is why they use Celsius, in general, in India, but doctors there still use Fahrenheit to measure patient temperatures.
And what do you have against Rankine?
