A History of Italian Pasta

The custom of eating boiled unleavened dough arose in many different places. China had noodles thousands of years ago, and Africa and the Middle East had their own versions. But pasta is an Italian word, derived from Latin, and pasta is most often associated with Italian cuisine. That country went all in on designing different kinds of pasta and making it accessible to the rest of the world. When Italians started emigrating to America in large numbers, they not only brought new varieties of pasta dishes with them, they expanded and adapted those recipes until Americans were hooked on them. By the time this video is over, you'll want to grab a plate of American-style spaghetti. (via Laughing Squid)
