Once upon a time, fling in a jet airliner was a special event. People didn't do it often, and they even dressed up up for it. Planes had fancy meals served on china, flight attendants who acted as if they were hosting a party, and lounges right there in the plane. It was luxurious. Today, airlines load their planes like cattle cars, there are no meals, you have to pay extra to take luggage, and we do all we can to just endure the time until we land at our destination. What happened? The story takes us through the history of the airline industry and the government agencies that regulate it.
