Parasitoid Wasps

You already didn't like wasps because their sting can make you miserable for days. Now find out how they treat other insects! There are hundreds of thousands of wasp species, many of which are parasitoids, meaning they lay their eggs inside other insects so their larva will have something to munch on as they grow, sometimes feeding on the host long before the host dies. Or they might lay eggs in another insect's eggs. Some wasps even do this to their own species. The process may remind you of a certain Sigourney Weaver film. As gruesome as this is, humans have used parasitoid wasps to control harmful insects. The good news (for us) is that parasitoid wasps generally don't have stingers.
