The 1968 musical comedy Funny Girl was Barbra Streisand's first movie. She came by the role honestly, as Streisand previously played the lead in the Broadway production. The movie is loosely based on the life of Fanny Brice. Streisand won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for the movie.
