I have a home in the Tokyo area, although I haven't been able to spend any time there lately, and I call BS on this story. The family name doesn't even seem real. I even tried looking this up in Japanese sources and go nothing.
Funny, I looked it up in English and found an article exposing it as fake news in 1998!

Yep, fake news. Of course the Corporate Media outfits that ran with the story starting in 1998 (AP, NPR etc.) never bothered to verify sources.
