"Financial compensation" never sounded so good. The latest project from There I Ruined It takes the monologue from that ad we've all seen again and again and sets it to the tune of "Galop Infernal" by Jacques Offenbach. We know it as the Can-Can song. (via reddit)
Just as many people cannot hear the overture from Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" or Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" without thinking of Bugs Bunny, I may never again be able to hear this song without these words scrolling, unbidden, through my mind.

Whenever I see those ambulance-chasing commercials, I wonder how much asbestos is still out there in the US that people disturb.
ReplyDeleteIt is when people disturb asbestos that it can settle in lungs and cause problems like mesothelioma. Is there still that much out there?
The last time I remember being near asbestos was as a teenager--my step-father made a launch pad for my model rockets; he used some asbestos to deflect the flame from the solid-fuel rocket engines.
Yes there is, for a very long time every home and building had asbestos used to insulate the heating system or the building itself, pre-fiberglas. There might even be a box of asbestos "snow" with the Christmas decorations in the attic.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere a Federal Judge had ruled in large class action suits like this one for asbestos, it would be more efficient and cheaper to let the law firms pay for "ambulance chasing ads" out of the settlement money than have the government take on notifying the public. That's why everyone knows about asbestos and Camp Lejeune water.
