Come on, this idea doesn't sound any crazier than Wife Swap or Naked and Afraid. Just because a TV show is unscripted doesn't mean it's reality. It just means they aren't paying writers. Besides, this kind of thing goes on informally all over. Mom makes you go to school and then serves you pizza or chicken nuggets and mac-and-cheese for dinner because she's tired and you'll eat it. Dad buys food at McDonald's and plays video games with you because it's the weekend. There's a reason young children don't make these decisions. This comic is from Kevin McShane. (via reddit)
Well, it would save people a lot of money in custody litigation costs.
ReplyDeleteFirefox won't show Instagram content in your blog.It claims to be protecting my security...

Yeah, I might have to stop using Instagram for embeds.
ReplyDeleteActually, with Firefox it depends
ReplyDeleteon whether you're using Enhanced
Tracking or not. You're special
Miss C - pretty much the only
site I allow. Only on my laptop
though. Nothing gets by my phone,
which makes things pretty miserable
over at another neato site. . .
I can see the instagram stuff but not TikTok.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm in the "don't see Instagram" side. I'm not sure why, it just blocks embedded Instagram.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday, Miss C!
I have several blockers in Firefox that prevent me from seeing INSTA and other sites. I have gotten used to (a) clicking the link Miss C kindly provides in the text, or (b) opening misscellania.com in Microsoft Edge if I cannot really tell which comic Miss C was referring to in the title.
ReplyDeleteMiss C, your sense of humor aligns well enough with mine that I don't mind this little bit of extra work to see the INSTA funnies.
Instagram comics are a rich source of funny, but I might have to move them to the links list.
ReplyDeleteFor Firefox, top left between the Home icon and the site address is a Lock icon. If there's a blue dot on it, enhanced tracking is off and you should be able to see everything. No blue dot and you're blocking tracking which is why sites like Instagram, Digg, and the Tweeter intentionally stop you from viewing their content. Click the icon and then the slider to turn tracking off and content should appear.
ReplyDeletegwdMaine, I found the lock icon, but there's no slider and no blue dot.
ReplyDeleteI'm using Firefox and also have the padlock icon, but like Miss C, no blue dot and no slider.
ReplyDeleteSo what I've been doing is clicking on the "open site in new window" button (which, at least in my case, opens a new tab in the existing browser window), then deleting the word 'embed' at the end of the URL that pops up and finally clicking 'enter'. Et voila! — there's the Instagram funny.
-"BB"-
Miss C. should upgrade so we can upload images. Wouldn't that be fun! But I digress.
ReplyDeleteIf you're on an Apple device, you're on your own. Assuming Firefox on Android w/no other 3rd party blocking add-ons, you should see embedded Instagram.
From the menu elipsis-->settings-->enhanced tracking protection
Options are default - strict - custom
I'm on strict which blocks a lot of stuff. If you delve into the details it states that Instagram is blocked. Probably have to play around with custom exceptions to make it work. Which is why I just turn it off and on as needed.
