Deck Us All With Boston Charlie

Walt Kelly gave us the comic strip Pogo, and he also gave us a nonsensical Christmas song. There is no official recording, but we all know how to sing it. This particular recording was made in 1981 by the hastily assembled Walt Kelly Memorial Choir. Roger May, a radio DJ in San Francisco at the time, recruited the group of friends to sing, recorded it on a cassette, and played it every Christmas for years afterward. Even today, if you start to sing these lyrics at, say, your workplace, someone will join in with you. Read about Pogo and the Christmas song he gave us at Groovy History. (via Metafilter)
