Jubilation T. Cornpone

In "Jubilation T. Cornpone," Stubby Kaye sings about a beloved monument to a Confederate loser ...in 1959. This is a number from the movie Li'l Abner, based on the 1956 Broadway musical, which was based on the comic strip by Al Capp. Look closely, and you'll see Valerie Harper, Beth Howland, and Donna Douglas in the chorus. 1. Stubby Kaye was also one of the two "shouters" (along with Nat King Cole) in the movie "Cat Ballou".

And unless I miss my guess, you'll also find Julie Newmar and Stella Stevens among the dancers in this scene as well.

  2. Except for the main guy, the costumes could all be used for a production of Peter Pan.

  3. Do the younger folks know who Lil Abner, Daisy Mae, Sadie Hawkins Day etal is? Are there still Sadie Hawkins Day Dances? I really enjoyed the comic strip when I was a kid.
