Gaslighting

If you're not familiar with the term "gaslighting," here's an explanation. It's a bit more complicated than just "blaming the victim," which is what you see above. (via reddit)

  1. Two lifetimes ago, in my drinking days, I was gaslighting all the time. It's when you set your farts on fire.

And there never was a 1944 film called Gaslight. You imagined it.

Hmm.. It's still Friday. A double happy Friday to you Miss C.

  2. How do you tell the difference between gaslighting and disagreeing with someone?

  3. Gaslighting always involves dishonesty and insincere maninpulative statements, and often involves outright lying about something that happened that the other person may not remember the exact details.

"I also have a right to decide whether or not this relationship ends. Why are you denying me my rights?" (when someone says they want the relationship to be over).

"Don't you remember you said you would agree to do this? You are always forgetting things."

(Don't ask me how I know these things).
