We have a large Asian community here in Edmonton, so we are lucky enough to see Lion Dances all the time at the Lunar New Year celebrations. It takes enormous skill, strength and athleticism for those young men to perform it well. If you are able to touch the Lion as it dances by, it guarantees you Luck for the upcoming year!
ReplyDeleteI had to see what the real thing looked like. I'd never seen a Lion Dance where they jumped onto things. It's amazing. Go to YouTube and search for Lion Dance competition. It's harder with the costume on! How do they see? A
