I've worked from home for about 15 years now, and I've had to participate in exactly one conference call. It was tres awkward because no one knew each other, and no one knew what was expected, so we never did it again. It's a different story when you are expected to work from home temporarily. Be careful; you might fall in love with it. This comic is from Jeff Lofvers at Don't Hit Save.
I'm working from home now because (1) I can and (2) I guess the work I do (I'm a customer service rep for a major cellular provider) is considered 'essential' since people depend so much now on their cell phones. Actually, it's not as bad as I thought it would be; I might even consider staying on the 'work-from-home' crew even after the virus crisis has subsided.
ReplyDeleteOf course, we don't have to do teleconferencing, either. Maybe then I'd be forced to change my mind.
