Then they proceed to purr their way out of whatever

also: the characteristic features of everyday existence (such as diversions or a way of life) shared by people in a place or time.
She wasn't deprived of "her culture", she has rejected her culture, the one she grew up in, to search of something she feels is more exotic to spice up her life, make her feel special, claiming she was cheated.

Bruce is right. If she had not been adopted by that kind, and generous couple her life would most likely have been short, and brutal. It's easy to romanticize a life you have never known. She doesn't seem to care that she has most likely broken her parents hearts. Just an awful person.
