These don't make any sense at all without explanations, which makes them all the more delightful. These maps are from Randall Munroe at xkcd.

    The only one I couldn't rationalize was 'Shark Attack.'
    Kentucky? West Virginia and Nevada? Finally come to the
    conclusion it must have something to do with the
    television ratings for Shark Week.
